How to repurpose an old sewing drawer into a country kitchen arrangement.
I love repurposing old items and old sewing drawers are a great item to repurpose.
There are many uses for them just use your imagination.
I am fortunate that my husband goes to auctions and buys these things I use to repurpose and I don’t have to go and search them myself. I’m thankful and that saves me a lot of time.
How I did it
This sewing drawer is in good shape, not much in the way of cleaning needed to be done just the basics.
First make the prim flowers with muslin and home spun fabric. You will need two circles of different sizes to make the flowers. Make your muslin circle larger then your printed fabric.
Entire flower fabric was tea stained.
I stuffed the center of the flower to give it a puffy look.
Cut slits in circles to look like flower edges.
I used small dowel rods for the stem and I wrapped the dowels with twine to give them a country look.
I cut leaves from Felt and attached to the stems.
Putting the arrangement together:
Inside of the drawer I placed brown crinkle paper in the bottom of the drawer layered with moss and a string of 20 clear lights, I pushed them up through the moss so you can see them when their lit.
I placed the prim flowers in the moss by using 3 small pieces of styrofoam added glue to hold, then place the flowers in the styrofoam so it gives them some stability.
The other items in the drawer are also items my husband bought from an auction so they have some age to them. There are 2 mccormick spice tins, the center one is the largest the one on the right is a mccormick and slightly smaller.
The other is an ideal spice tin. The one thing about getting items at the auction is you can’t always get them matching. The good thing is it gives your project a little more country vintage style.
Behind the flowers I placed an aluminum measuring spoons, hand mixer with red handle which appears to be child size. I placed a Country Kitchen tag on the blue flower with felt. Its such a nice country vintage style arrangement.
The sewing drawer is wrapped with burlap then wrapped with red homespun. I placed a bow made of burlap and homespun attached to the front of drawer.
There are so many ideas for repurposing, use your imagination and see what you come up with!
