With Hand Painted Saltbox House
After a very long weekend at work I am happy to be with you today. I am sharing an old bird feeder with a hand painted saltbox house that I repurposed. I enjoy hand painting on old antique items like this bird feeder. The bird feeder came from an auction, in its original form it was just an old galvanized metal bird feeder. Sorry I didn’t take a before pic Ugh! I am calling it a bird feeder. I don’t know what other kind of feeder it could be, the feeder holes are small and located in the tray where welcome is painted. The antique bird feeder was very simple to do.
First I wiped off the feeder, base coated it flat black, sprayed it 2-3 times with drying in between. I drew out my salt box house on paper and traced just the shape of the house on the bird feeder. I chose a linen color for the house, Black, white and barn red color for accents. I painted free hand the scene on the Bird feeder. When all painting was completed I sprayed it several times with a clear matt finished. The repurposed antique feeder turned out really nice. I displayed this on my porch for the pics.
